Muihood is on a mission to reduce skincare waste

Creating more sustainable skincare products and a community for positive change

Who

are Muihood?

Muihood is a skincare brand to be excited about. Focused on giving back to communities and the planet, they’re looking to create eco-friendly products and build a skincare community that champions positive change in the industry. Let's hear from the founder Charlotte to find out more about how this amazing brand came to be, the details of the skincare circle, and how Muihood hopes to leave a positive impact.

Why

was Muihood created?

Charlotte: “I created Muihood because I was inspired by the strong WOC around me from my early teens to my mid 20s and wanted to create hardworking skincare products that championed them. Growing up as a British born Chinese, I was drawn to the power of Chinese herbal remedies at home but never saw them being used in skincare or anything of the kind in Boots or Superdrug. Which is unfortunate given that Chinese medicine has devoted thousands of years to finding solutions to a plethora of skin- and body-care woes. So I thought it would be cool to create skincare products that invoke the rich traditions of Chinese culture and medicine and use the benefits of each herb through modern science. Watch out for February 2021 for our first product!”

“My goal for the skincare circle is to build a trusting, fun online community of womxn who want to share, swap, donate, or buy unused skincare they don't vibe with!”

What

is the skincare circle all about?

Charlotte: “There's been so many times where I've received new skincare gifts at birthdays/Christmas/parties that I simply don't have the shelf space for or I know I won't use because it won't suit my oily skin type so it ends up abandoned under my bed. I thought there must be a better way to reduce this waste and thus the skincare circle Slack channel was born! The skincare circle is about doing our bit to reduce waste, and to extend the life of skincare products for longer. My goal for the skincare circle is to build a trusting, fun online community of womxn who want to share, swap, donate, or buy unused skincare they don't vibe with!”

How

does Muihood hope to create positive change in the skincare industry?

Charlotte: “From the very start, I've always wanted to create more space for representation in the skincare industry. It's important to me that we represent individuals that might have grown up casted as a minority and 'not enough' (because I know the feeling and it sucks!), and start shining a light to celebrate all WOC for being beautiful and strong. We are here for the conscious sisterhood. They are loud about the things they care about, passionate about individualism and seeing positive change around them. As we grow as a business, I want to help give back to our local communities and give 10% of sales to support women charities and environmental NGOs to help clean our planet.”
